Support our Minnesota Neighbors

26 Jan by Jenn Horak-Hult

Friends,

There is a lot to process in our changing reality right now. If you are feeling grief, anger, overwhelm, and uncertainty- you aren't alone. We are with you. And our studio community will always be a soft place to come be with all of these feelings. Relationship is our top value, and it feels more important than ever to lean into the connections we share with friends and neighbors. Minnesota is showing us that every day as they stand up for good and for each other.

We couldn't be more proud of our neighbors to the north and we're grieved by the burden they are experiencing. Our studio community extends beyond Iowa and includes families in our virtual class who live in Minneapolis. We are sharing important support efforts our Minnesota-based families are directly connected to that are having a significant hyper-local high impact. If you are wondering how you can support and care for Minnesotans right now, these three giving opportunities make a difference. We will have flyers posted in our classrooms and lobby with this information and wanted to provide it to you here as well.

• VENMO: @Annie-Arnold-725: Annie is a music educator who works with ESL adults. She is feeding her students and their families while many of them are unable to safely leave their homes.

• VENMO: @Karakurth: Kara owns a furniture store and has converted her warehouse into a food distribution center. Everyday friends and helpful neighbors come to pick up as much food as needed to deliver to families who cannot leave their homes safely.

• WEBSITE: www.dhhmn.com : Iglesia Dios Habla Hoy (DHH Church) is feeding thousands of people in their neighborhood and providing rent assistance to those who are unable to leave their homes to get to work.

If you are feeling stuck, small action can help. Your efforts don't need to be perfect or big. Keep singing to your babies. Keep playing with your toddlers. Keep reading to your preschoolers. These things help our children feel safe and loved. And raising loving, attuned, empathetic, imaginative children is a form of resistance.

We see you. We love you.
Love,
Team Pied Piper
